A 25-year-old man was arrested after running off with his 14-year-old girlfriend and taking her to a hotel Sunday night.
Police were called to a home in Green Acres where they met with the mother the teen girl. She told them the girl had run away a couple hours before with the boyfriend they knew only by the name "Bubba," who hung out on Cannon Street. Officers went to Cannon and spoke with several anonymous witnesses who reportedly told them Bubba, who they identified as Ladarius Jones, and the girl had left just a few moments before. The father of the missing teen told officers he believed his daughter was at a hotel with Bubba.
While on the way to the hotels, officers found out Jones had warrants for armed robbery and assault. When they arrived at America's Best Value Inn and showed the teen's picture, the clerk verified both she and Jones were there.
Several minutes later officers noticed the girl walking in the parking lot. She admitted that Jones was in the hotel room hiding. After calling for backup, officers converged on the hotel. They saw Jones walking on the breezeway of the top floor and as officers headed in his direction they said Jones fled. After a brief foot chase officers were able to catch and arrest Jones. He was transported to the Newton County Detention Center, where he remains, charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery and obstruction.
The teen was released to her mother.
