Authorities have released the name of the man accused of shooting two Newton County deputies Monday afternoon. According to authorities, 20-year-old Thomas Powell was found dead in his home on Parker Road following a four-hour stand off which began after he reportedly shot the deputies

According to NCSO Lt. Tyrone Oliver, the deputies, 50-year-old James Trent and 25-year-old Wesley Atha, were at the home because a call was made to 911 reporting a suicide threat at the residence. When they arrived shots were fired from inside the home, striking both men.
