A 22-year-old woman was arrested by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) on Feb. 5 in connection with the death of 23-year-old Divante Simmons of Covington.

Micayla Christina Taylor was charged with murder and aggravated assault in the Feb. 2 shootings of Simmons and 35-year-old William Lawton outside 33 Gum Tree Court in Covington. Lawton was injured during the incident.
