The two accused sex offenders on the run have been caught in Florida, according to Newton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Tyrone Oliver.
NCSO officials were notified today by the Alachua Police Department of the arrest of Donald Brown and James Crawford.
According to Alachua Police, Crawford called 911 to turn himself in on warrants. When officers arrived on scene Crawford had a .357 in his waistband but was taken into custody with out incident.
A few moments later Alachua Police received a 911 call of an attempted car-jacking. When they arrived on scene officers made contact with a female victim who stated that a male pointed a gun at her, struck in the face and demanded that she drive. She drove a short distance before the male exited the car.
A search of the area was conducted and officers saw a male matching the description given by the female victim. When they approached the male he took off running. After a short foot chase he was arrested. The male was then identified as Donald Brown.
Brown was in possession of a .38 revolver, .45 handgun and a .22 long rifle.
Both men are being held at the Alachua County Jail. Brown is charged with armed burglary, kidnapping, aggravated battery and resisting arrest, along with the charges from Georgia. Crawford is being held on concealed weapon violation and charges from Georgia.
