WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (AP) — City officials in Warner Robins are considering a proposed $22 million sports complex aimed at luring baseball and softball tournaments to the middle Georgia city.

The Macon Telegraph reports (bit.ly/25IswIq) a concept drawing of the project was presented Monday to the Warner Robins City Council. The proposed complex includes nine baseball fields and a 43,000-square-foot building with two basketball gyms and an indoor track.

Architect Neil Clark told council members the project could be completed by June 2018 if they act quickly.

The complex would be built on 65 acres of city-owned land. But Warner Robins only has $5 million allotted to the project from a special purpose local option sales tax. The rest of the money would have to be borrowed.
