Halloween is just around the corner and residents have only 17 more days to take advantage of the spooky sites Newton and surrounding counties have to offer.
At Lost County Haunted House visitors can take a tour of a haunted house and maze for $10, proceeds of which benefit charitable projects of the Pace Masonic Lodge 558. The house is open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 552 Ga. Highway 212 in Covington.
Indian Creek Nursery is hosting their annual Haunted Garden in Mansfield from dark until 10 p.m. every Fridays and Saturdays night in October at 2691 Newborn Road. Wander through dark trails deep in the heart of the nursery where those things that go bump in the night lurk in the shadows. Tickets are $12. For more information go to www.halloweennightmare.com.
For those so inclined, there are several ghoulish attractions outside of the county just a short drive away.
In Griffin, for those 18 and older, there is a Haunt Tour offered for $33. Those interested should call (770) 567-9864 to make reservations for the four to six hour "paranormal investigation." Guests are encouraged to bring cameras to possibly capture paranormal activity during the tour.The
Curse of the Scarecrow Haunted Trail is open in McDonough on Oct. 24-25 and 27-30 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday nights and from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weeknights. Children must be at least 11-years-old and those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost of admission is $10. There is also an area for children ages 10 and under. The cost of admission is $5 for those 3 and up and free for those 2 and under and includes trick-or-treating, a children’s haunted house and a ghost train.
