Mrs. Kate Barnes, of Covington, died April 5. The daughter of the late Robert Henry and Nina Walton Barker, she was born in 1912 in Jasper County. She was the widow of Leonard Franklin Barnes and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Nathan and Betty Ann Barnes of Conyers, Ronald and Lynn Barnes of Dacula; daughter and son-in-law Geraldine and Grady Cargile of Covington; sister Lucile Wadie of Macon; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 8 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Thompson officiating. Interment followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4228 Mill St., Covington, 30014, in honor of Mrs. Kate Barnes.
