Newton added two more wins to its one win total this evening to clinch the season series against Alcovy (3-0) and continue its road to the playoffs. On a beatiful day for a doubleheader, Newton won the first of two games, 10-2 and won the second 10-6.

Alcovy was trailing by three (5-2) in the sixth inning before a infield grand slam by Mason Calloway busted the game open to give Newton a 9-2 lead. The Rams closed out the inning with one more run and held the Tigers scoreless for the reaminder of the game to get the win.

Newton won the second game in similar fashion. It was close yet again. With the Tigers trailing 7-6 at the top of the inning, all they had to do was hold Newton and they would get the chance to score to one run to tie the game. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the Rams had something else in mind.

Newton catcher Alex Johnson went up to bat with two runners on base and Johnson smashed a pitch deep to center and over the fence for a three-run homer, his second homerun of the game.

The Rams held tight on their 10-6 lead and topped the Tigers to hold steady as the No. 4 seed in Region 2-AAAAAA.
