Eastside hosted Locust Grove on Friday night and both the boys and the girls got a victory to improve their region records as the season winds down. The boys improved to 10-9 overall and 6-6 in Region 4-AAAA. The girls improved to 8-12 overall and 7-5 in region 4-AAAA.

Eastside head coach, Gregory Freeman earned his 370th win as a head coach on the night, as the Eagles beat the Warriors 69-53.

The game was much closer heading into the fourth quarter, as the Warriors trailed 48-42. With three minutes and six seconds left, up by five, Freeman called a timeout. That timeout worked wonders for Eastside.

The Eagles finished the quarter on a 15-4 run to get the win, but it didn’t come without a price. Eagle guard Marquise Sims went down with a knee injury in the second quarter, Eastside will monitor his progress going forward.

The girls started the night off dominating the Lady Wildcats, leaping out to a 18-7 lead by halftime, after leading 8-5 after the first quarter.

Janelle Cook and Teirra Brown were the ringleaders, as they combined for 25 points on the night. Eastside held Locust Grove to 25 points on the night and forced 35 turnovers, winning 43-25.

The Lady Eagles turned the ball over, but it was their defense that made up for their lapses on offense.
