Eastside's boys moved to 6-3 in region play with a 69-45 win over Jackson Friday. It's the Eagles fourth straight region win after the holiday break and fourth win in its past five games.

Anthony Henderson led the way with 18 points and was one of three Eagles in double figures. Ben Miller added 11 while Quindarrius Russell had 10. Treyvon Francis had a nice night, scoring eight points and dishing out eight assists while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

Despite the double digit win, first year head coach Gregory Freeman wasn't happy with Eastside's performance at the free throw line.

"We should be better," Freeman said. "We should win games by bigger margins. We miss too many layups and free throws. (Going) 17-for-38 from the free throw line and missing 13 layups is totally unacceptable."

Eastside did yeoman's work on the glass, grabbing 30 rebounds as a team and defensively the Eagles had 13 steals to go along with five blocks. They also did a good job taking care of the ball, finishing with 12 turnovers.

"We play great defense but there has to be some semblance of offense to earn an opportunity to play in the (Class AAA) state playoffs," Freeman said. "That is our goal. That's what we're point to."

Eastside returns home Friday to take on No. 2 ranked Eagles Landing. The Golden Eagles have lost one game on the season and are undefeated and atop the region standings.
