In what looked to be a runaway victory at one point for Eastside High School, turned out to be a dramatic finish, but the Eagles showed resiliency and escaped with a 5-4 victory over Alcovy.

The Lady Eagles opened up the first inning with two runs, but their offense stalled for a while after that. The Tigers offense was able to get runners on base for the majority of the game, but wasn’t able to bring in a run until the third inning, making the game 2-1 Eagles.

The Lady Eagles’ bats got hot again in the sixth, scoring three runs and pushing their lead to 5-1.

Hope seemed lost for the Tigers, but you couldn’t tell them that. With two runners on and two outs, a three-run homer brought the Tigers within reach. The next batter would pop out and end the game.

The Eagles will play Henry County tomorrow and the Tigers will look for revenge against Ola on Tuesday.
