Weeks after Rick Hurst announced he was leaving his position as Eastside High School’s Football coach, the school has named science teacher and Assistant Head Football Coach Troy Hoff as the new head coach.
According to a release by the Newton County School System Hoff has served the last 10 of his 14 years at Eastside. During his decade of assisting the Eagles’ football team he has served in various roles, including Special Teams Coordinator, Running Backs Coach, JV Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, Varsity Offensive Line Coach and Assistant Head Coach.
In his time with Eastside football Hoff has helped the Eagles reach a Region 8-AAA championship in 2008 and 2009, and two additional playoff appearances in 2010 and 2014.
“I know that the entire Eastside family shares my enthusiasm as we announce Coach Hoff as the new Head Football Coach,” Eastside Principal Jeff Cher said. “He certainly has demonstrated dedication and passion in the classroom as well as in coaching, and we are delighted to continue a tradition of excellence.”
Hoff’s football experience also goes beyond Eastside, as a running back at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, as an Assistant Coach at Northern State University and an Assistant Coach at Central High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
