The American Legion Post 77 baseball team concludes the regular season today, and seems ready for the challenge after its previous two games.
Post 77 routed Peachtree City 16-0 in seven innings Saturday, jumping out to a big lead early.
After the first inning the home team led 5-0, and ran the score up to 12-0 after three.
Cole Murphy continued his hot hitting with two against Peachtree City, making his total five throughout the last two games for Post 77.
Casey Shubert led Rockdale with three hits, and Eastside’s Peyton Pallay drove in a game-high four runs. Eagles’ hitters were pivotal in Rockdale’s run output, as Jake Wright tallied three RBI and Musashi Briem two.
Saturday was just another case of the fact that when the weather allows, Rockdale Post 77 is letting the runs fly.
Throughout its last five games, the American Legion baseball team has belted 86 runs, going 5-1.
Thursday night, Post 77 took an early lead and held on to defeat Loganville 11-1.
Rockdale scored seven runs in the second inning and was led throughout the game by Murphy, former Eastside star Wright and Joshua Smith; all had three hits each. Murphy drove in three runs, while Wright and former Eagles’ teammate Briem drove in two runs apiece.
Rockdale wraps up its regular season today hosting Dawsonville at 2 p.m., before the state tournament begins Thursday.
