Winless at Alcovy

A defensive effort that just wasn’t enough led Alcovy to a 27-0 loss to Lovejoy, making Alcovy 0-10 to finish the season and giving the Tigers their first winless season since 2007.

The Tigers beat themselves on the night. Four times Alcovy made it to the redzone and all of those trips came up empty.

Once, Alcovy got the ball at the 17 after a long pass from Bubba Hickson. Then the Tigers managed a couple of penalties and a fumble to take them out of scoring position. Another one of the Tigers’ empty trips in the redzone ended in a blocked field goal.

Junior defensive end/outside linebacker Jazztin Jefferson had an incredible game for the Tigers. Jefferson forced a fumble and a had a touchdown-saving tackle (although it did draw a penalty) on a long catch and run against Lovejoy.

The Tigers are young and will, likely, hopefully be better next year. This year there were a lot of fumbles and dropped balls. There weren’t much of either of the two in Alcovy’s final contest of the season.
