Tigers capitalize off errors, top Newton
RAVEN

In high school softball when you're dealing with young players who are still learning, there will be some mistakes. Most games come down to the team that makes the fewest mistakes and on Tuesday that was Alcovy, as they eased to a 9-1 win over a young Newton team.

Other than mistakes the game cane down to which pitcher would last longer, and the Tigers won that battle, too. On the mound for the Tigers was the usual suspect, Kalia Johnson.

Johnson went six innings, scattering hits across the board amd allowing just one run.

The third inning provided the Tigers all the separation they needed.

After Newton took a 1-0 lead, a hit in deep centerfield that fell off the right side of the fielder’s glove leading to two runs for the Tigers.

The Lady Rams were strong on the mound, but errors on defense cost them what could've been a much closer game.
Ashley Coles, Newton head coach, said, “I think that next time we see Alcovy I really do think we’re going to be prepared for it.”
