Playoff positioning is still unsettled in the Region 2-AAAAAA, as Alcovy and Newton will decide who grabs the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in the region next week.

With Lovejoy off this past Friday, the Tigers and Rams clinched playoff berths with a pair of wins, but all eyes are on the Wildcats and Tigers next week.

The Tigers defeated the Rockdale Bulldogs 22-7 Friday, despite turning the ball over six times, and currently sit 4-1 in the region.

The Rams clinched a playoff berth with a 13-7 road victory over Luella, and currently sit No. 3 overall in the region.

A win next week for the Tigers would mean a region title, but a loss and a Newton win over Morrow would give the Rams the No. 2 playoff seed and a home playoff contest at Sharp Stadium.

The Wildcats are guaranteed a playoff spot, but a win over the Tigers would give Lovejoy its 33rd consecutive win in region play dating back to its last region loss in Region 4-AAAAA to Chapel Hill.

Joining the Wildcats, Tigers and Rams in the playoffs are the Luella Lions.

The Lions dropped their season finale to Newton last week, but have clinched a playoff berth with a 3-3 league record. The Lions hold the tiebreaker over Rockdale County should the Bulldogs defeat Druid Hills this week.

Luella went 1-2 over its last three games with losses to the Rams and Wildcats, but picked up early region wins over Druid Hills and the Bulldogs to claim the fourth spot in the region.

The Druid Hills Red Devils earned their first region win last week with a 66-46 victory over Morrow. The Red Devils had been winless in region play, scoring just 16 points in their four region conetsts before defeating the Mustangs.

With the loss, Morrow fell to 0-5 in region play.

The Mustangs will have one last chance to earn a region win on this road this Saturday at Sharp Stadium against the Rams.
