Alcovy continued to cement its position as a threat to win the region with a dominant 55-36 win against neighboring county rival, Rockdale County.
The Lady Tigers led early and often, taking a 28-13 lead into halftime. The Lady Bulldogs fought back to get within nine points, but Alcovy stepped up its defense in the third period and went on a run.
Rockdale had no answer for the Lady Tiger’s tenacious defense in the half-court that resulted in an Alcovy player leaking out, waiting for a down court heave and scoring with no pressure, unless you count scary guy in black and white stripes.
The Lady Tigers went on to dominate in the fourth and seal the deal, making their record 7-8 (2-1 Region).
Rockdale’s boys dominate Alcovy’s boys much in the same way, the Lady Tigers dominated the Lady Bulldogs.
Rockdale leaked out in transition so much, it looked like a track meet, one the Bulldogs won. Rockdale started strong with a 22-6 lead to end the first, and from there on Alcovy had no answer.
The Tigers lost 72-45, as Alcovy continues to look for its first win of the season.
