The National Weather Service in Peachtree city issued a significant weather advisory for frequent lightning and heavy rain in Rockdale, and Newton and Henry counties until 2:15 p.m. EDT.
The NWS Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over the Magnet area, moving east at 15 mph.
Take caution against lighting by not being out in open fields or on bodies of water.
This storm has the potential to produce frequent cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts to 35 mph,
Some locations in the path of this storm include: Kelleytown, Magnet, Oak Hill, Almon, Rocky Plains, Porterdale, Oxford and Covington. Also watch for water on the road as brief heavy downpours can cause ponding of water on roadways.
It's expected to be partly cloudy tonight with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows 67 to 75.
