(June 21, 4:31 p.m.) IN BRIEF: The Rockdale County school board recently approved contracted compensation for Superintendent Dr. Samuel King for meeting performance goals.

The motion, which passed unanimously, was made by Don McKinney and seconded by Darlene Hotchkiss at the June 16 meeting school board meeting. Katrina Young and Jim McBrayer were not present for that meeting.

Board member Jean Yontz said the compensation was a percentage of King's salary and had been part of his contracts in past years as well. "That doesn't mean it's a raise," said Yontz.
