STEPHENS, George

Mr. George Vernon Stephens, age 81 of Conyers, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born August 23, 1928 in Ranburne, AL to Cliff Stephens and Anice Lowery. After moving to the Atlanta area in 1946, Mr. Stephens enjoyed working for Bell-South until his retirement in 1991. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Terrence "Terry" Vernon Stephens; and brother, Dennis Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Helen Stephens; son, Greg Stephens and daughter-in-law, Donna; daughter, Veronica Anderson; daughter-in-law, Karen Stephens; step-daughters, Terry Kitchens and Wendy Balentine; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. The family will be receiving friends at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers, GA on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 5 until 7 p.m. EST.
