Mrs. Mary Alice Evans, age 89 of Conyers, died Thursday, February 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Olivia and Oliver Snead Dyson; son, Roy Craig Evans; and grandson, Christopher Brant Duensing. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Leonard Lamar Evans, Jr., Conyers; son, Leonard Lamar Evans, III; daughters and son-in-law, Dale and Ray Duensing, Social Circle, Frances Evans, Locust Grove; brother, George Dyson and family, Watkinsville; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Evans was known as wife, mother, nanny, sister, friend and mentor. She was an original member of Conyers Christian Church and a current member of McDonough Christian Church. She was a multi-talented lady who enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking wedding cakes. She was owner and teacher of a ceramics studio, enjoyed painting china, oils, and portraits, and making stained glass windows. Mrs. Evans even built a large rock wall by herself. She was a machinist and die maker at the family business. She was the GA Ladies Skeet and Trap Shooting Champion. Mrs. Evans loved to travel, organizing field trips with the seniors of her church. She also visited the Holy Land, Haiti, Greece, Italy, Israel, as well as numerous other places. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. at McDonough Christian Church with Ministers Paul Leslie, Brandt Johnson and Bill Rollins officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, Conyers. Family will receive friends Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
