In the Lord's Army

As I was thinking about Memorial Day, I caught myself humming an old camp song, "I may never march in the infantry, ride in the calvary, shoot the artillery. I may never fly over land and sea, but I'm in the Lord's Army."
I'm grateful that thousands of brave troops have suffered and died so that I can enjoy so many freedoms. It's humbling to know that pools will open and grills will be lit because of the efforts of so many. Our armed forces provide this protection with unwavering loyalty.

I hope that I may learn to serve in God's army with such obedience.
Jesus continues to direct my path, "If you love me, you will obey what I command" (Jn 14:15 NAB, NIV).

Dear Lord, please give me a soldier's heart.
