Hands Across Rockdale seeks community projects
HAR-2012-6534.rporter

Hands Across Rockdale is looking for a few good projects to tackle for its second annual day of service on April 13, 8 a.m. - noon.

Whether it’s cleaning out the yard of elderly residents, beautifying our local parks and trails, repainting a school or helping out at the animal shelter, HAR is looking for ways to make our community a better place.

All projects need to be able to be completed within the 4-hour window on April 13, must be located in Rockdale, and need to be something the average person can do (no skilled labor). Every project submission should have a person identified as the project director and local contact.

Deadline for project submission is Feb. 15. Applications are available online at www.handsacrossrockdale.org.

Hands Across Rockdale was born out of a desire to channel the tremendous volunteer spirit in Rockdale and is organized by volunteers from Leadership Rockdale, a civic educational program run by the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.

If you, your youth group, bowling league team, book club, or a few friends are interested in volunteering on April 13, go to www.handsacrossrockdale.org. Volunteers will be able to choose what types of project they’d like to work on when they sign up online.  Volunteers will be notified of which project they’ve been assigned via email about a week before the day and can go straight to the project worksite on the morning of April 13. An appreciation lunch will be served afterwards at a central location.

HAR is also looking for sponsors to help cover supply costs. Sponsorships range from $50 - $750.
