Social Circle superintendent

Social Circle City Schools has a new superintendent. Todd McGhee, the principal of the Elbert County Comprehensive High School, was unanimously named superintendent of Social Circle's school system last week.

McGhee is being welcomed back after previously serving as middle school principal in Social Circle for two years. We wish McGhee the best and hope Social Circle's schools continue to give the city pride and be among the region's best.

While McGhee has plenty of experience as principal at area middle and high schools, he knows he has big shoes to fill, replacing longtime Superintendent Bettye Ray.

Ray, who is retiring at the end of this fiscal year, was an excellent leader, a talented administrator and an involved citizen in her community.

We wish both Ray and McGhee the best as they move into the next stages of their lives.
