Uneven perspective

Dear Editor: In the "Our Thoughts" section of Sunday’s paper it stated "the news media took great delight in showing the Palin effigy, but they did not demand this disgrace be taken down."

You are right — the one I was watching did not demand it be taken down, but they did express disgust and said that it had no place in a campaign. One could not characterize their reaction as delight by any stretch. The incidents took place in different states, which may have different laws regarding these acts.

Finally, while there is no excuse for either of these acts, the hanging of a black effigy is weighted with a more significant message of lynching.

The ongoing rant about the liberal media, which this opinion perpetuates, is beyond tiresome and has been disproved time and again.
