Dear Editor: Three local commissioners appear to have hijacked the countywide SPLOST agenda and loaded it with items for their individual districts, with little if any consideration, it would seem, for the larger issues facing the county and the deliberative process SPLOST should have demanded. It’s called "pork" in D.C., and they want the rest of us to assure their re-election by endorsing their personal agenda. If the voters figure out the backstory, there could well be a backlash against the SPLOST vote, and sadly, if the SPLOST doesn’t pass, property taxes will have to go up. Way to go, Commissioners Ewing, Fleming and Henderson.
