Dear Editor: Please allow me to thank State Senator John Douglas for visiting with my boys and me at the Capitol Thursday. He made it one of the most extraordinary days I have ever spent with my children.
Senator Douglas came out from the session to meet my sons, signed an autograph for my eight-year-old, and then did the most extraordinary thing. He took us on the floor of the Senate. He explained to my boys what was going on and even had our picture taken with the Lt. Governor.
The Senator made our visit very special, even wowing my teenager, a very hard thing to do. The Senator deserves credit for the first-class way he treated us. It makes one wonder how much better our politics would be if we did everything like our children were present.
