Letter: What is your opinion of sexual assault?
Letters

To the editor of The Covington News,

I don’t really understand why these women that were supposedly assaulted or raped by these men did not speak up 30, 40 or 50 years ago.

Many of these women to be were young, true enough, but why were they afraid to speak up?

I was 20 or 21 when I worked at the Atlanta Main Post Office. An official harassed me sexually; there was never any touching, just what he said he would do for me for one or two days a week of my time.

I got very tired of the insults so I wrote Washington D.C., the Postmaster Department. There was inspectors sent from Washington to investigate the situation.

Why didn’t these women come forward then? That seems to say something about both parties.

Did these men threaten teir lives? Were they going to harm their family members? Why did these women, or I should say girls, think to allow such to happen?

The Bible has fine advice to every conflict and problem that face men and women:

  • Genesis 2:24
  • Genesis 3:8
  • Genesis 3:16: latter part of verse
  • Genesis 3:20, 21
  • Genesis 39: Joseph and wife
  • Romans 15:4
  • 1 Timothy 2: 9-10: wear modest clothes
  • 1 Timothy 6:8-11

What is the opinion of you and your readers?

I know what my thoughts are on the matter? What do you think?

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Hughes
