Dear Editor: Chairperson [Kathy] Morgan made a deal with the Board [of Commissioners] upon entering office to receive $6,000 per year for automobile expenses.
She makes $90,000 per year [as a fulltime county employee] so that takes it to nearly $100,000.
But now she has submitted an additional request for $13,000 for automobile expenses.
I travel a lot and the most I have ever accumulated was less than $5,000 per year. Most likely in her case, she seldom has to leave the county limits.
This money belongs to the taxpayers of Newton County and a deal is a deal. If the Commissioners approve this ridiculous additional amount, they are not being good stewards of the citizens’ money.
Just say no!
