Dear Editor: I would like to comment on the letter sent by our County Commissioners to Social Circle opposing the proposed drag strip. Shame, shame, shame for our Newton County elected officials for getting involved in another county and government’s business. But to do it in a letter that they made public is even worse. This probably assures that the drag strip will be built.
The Social Circle and Walton County government is no more going to appreciate the Newton government getting into their affairs than Newton would if it were reversed. What would have been wrong with our chairperson going to Social Circle and expressing the commissioners’ views in private to their government officials.
Our elected government officials have to be more professional than this.
