Letter: Monument conversation needs to end
Letters

To The Citizens:

The ongoing complaints concerning the monuments are a little disturbing.  Most of the monuments are for the soldiers who died fighting for their beliefs.  I am sure that the monuments offend some people.  The claim that they represent just one aspect of the conflict is often misguided.

The civil war was about more than slavery and all these people need to do is study history to realize this.  Slavery was wrong but it still happens today around the world.  To try and change history and forget about the terrible things that have happened will cause them to keep happening.

As for the people who say they represent racism just look at “Black History Month,” “Miss Black America Pageant.”
