Dear editor,

I Willie K. Nolley, age 85 years old, the son of Emmitt and Minnie Nolley and niece of Frank Nolley of Oxford, am an alumni of Rosenwald School in Oxford.

Some of the oldest African Americans that were employed at Emory University of Oxford were Billy Mitchell, supervisor over maintenance, who walked every day to work. Also Mason Wright, assistant supervisor of maintenance, Ralph Cody, who was the head cook, and Johnny Wright who was the supervisor of the kitchen.

Some of the oldest members of the Board of Oxford were: Ivey Williams, who lived across Indian Creek, which I lived next door to him. Wiley Allgood, who operated the first service station and Bankston Moss, who operated one of the first grocery stores in Oxford — both on Hwy 81.
