Dear Editor: On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I offer congratulations to the members of the newly established NewRock Legal Society, a voluntary minority bar association for attorneys, judges and law students in Newton and Rockdale counties.

Special commendation goes to the society's officers, President Phinia Aten, Vice President Cacie Dix, Treasurer Sherri Washington, Secretary Contancia Davis and Parliamentarian Tami Wells Thomas for their leadership in forming the association. I am wholeheartedly in support of the founding principle of community service through work with local governments, civic associations and businesses to provide a better understanding of how the court system works.

The NewRock Legal Society's theme, "Transformation through Education," is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers as we seek to fulfill both our duty to help others and our high calling as stewards of the justice system.
