Ruth Joyce Ramge, 85, of Covington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Piedmont Newton. She was born in Atlanta to the late Alfonce and Mabel Borton Speyer.

Ruth, also known as “Mumsie”, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed watching Western television shows, especially anything with John Wayne in it. Ruth was an avid NASCAR fan and her favorite drivers were Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Ruth loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and her many, many animals. She will be dearly missed. Ruth was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Cannon; and her brothers, Phillip and David Speyer.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Marvin Ramge, of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law David and Lorraine Cannon of Covington, and Steve and Cindy Cannon of Covington; grandchildren Russell Cannon, Karrie Randolph and Steven Smith; brother-in-law Bob Ramge; friend Mary Jackson; and special best friend of 79 years, Anne Childers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at noon in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
