Mr. Nolan Sylvester Burrell, Shady Dale, died Oct. 7 at his residence. The son of the late Lamar Burrell and Mary Rider, who survives, he was born in 1945 in Newton County. He worked for numerous people and had over 200 jobs during his life and was proud each of them. The jobs included working as a disc jockey for Covington Radio and as a flooring installer. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was a member of High Point Baptist Church. Mr. Burrell enjoyed playing music including both the guitar and drums and started the first record sales department in the Consolidated Department Store, Covington. He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends.
Surviving are mother Mary Leonard of Covington; children Casper Burrell of Mansfield, Abby and Dutch Landrum, Kim Geirrein, both of Shady Dale, Daphne and Jody Day of Covington; former wife Sherrell Burrell of Shady Dale; brothers and sisters James Burrell of Porterdale, Jackie Pike, Lela Fuller, C. J. Leonard, all of Covington; grandchildren Brandon Landreau, Kayla Landreau, Gabe Day, Paton Day, lSeth Geirrein; numerous nieces, nephew, nephews and other close family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 9, at High Point Baptist church with Mr. Phil Johnson officiating. Interment will be held in Austin Chapel Cemetery. Friends may sign the online register at www.harwellwheeler funteralhome.com.
