Era Gladys Reed of Covington, GA died Wednesday June 2, 2010 at Newton Medical Center. She was born on May 5, 1916 in Atlanta, Ga to Thomas and Ola Harris Drake. Mrs. Reed was a life time resident of Newton County, was a member of Love Joy United Methodist Church, and worked at Pool's Shoe Store for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Reed is survived by son Dell Reed of Covington, Ga; son and daughter-in-law Marcus and Sandra Reed of Jefferson City, Tn; daughter and son-in-law Fay and Rev. Johnny Curry of Cookville, Tn; daughter Vicki Taylor of Oxford, Ga; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Joe Wayne Barnes of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several neices and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Wardell Alfred Reed Sr., father Thomas Drake; mother Ola Harris Drake; she was the last of 10 children born to her family; sons-in-law Russell Coleman Sr. and Jerry Taylor; daughter-in-law Rita Reed. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday June 5, 2010 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Gravitt officiating. Interment will be at Covington City Cemetery.
