R. Dale Pearce passed away at home on Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was born December 3, 1948, in Gadsden, Alabama. Dale graduated from Towers High School, in Decatur, in 1967, where he played football, ran track and wrestled. He earned his Bachelors of Business Administration degree with honors, at the University of Georgia in 1971. He was a member of Chi Psi fraternity. He later received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University. Dale spent his career in a variety of sales, marketing and management positions with Ford Motor Company in Ohio, Michigan and California. Dale and his wife, Linda, returned to Georgia 10 years ago settling in Covington where Dale worked for Colony Realty. He held a number of offices with the East Metro Board of Realtors, including president. Throughout his life, Dale was devoted to his family and faith. He enjoyed biking, kayaking and playing golf. He was an avid Bulldog fan. Dale was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Pearce.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Ball Pearce; children, Rachel Freer of Evergreen, Colorado, Dr. Zachary and Carrie Pearce of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Logan, Emelia and Waverly; mother, Rose “Bunny” Pearce; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Tom Pickering of Jasper, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Melanie Pearce of Allen, Texas.
Dale was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington where his services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, 11 a.m., with Dr. Cody McNutt officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, Wednesday, July 9, from 5 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Cancer Society via a direct memorial page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/dalepearce, or via mail at P.O.
