Mr. Lewis Hawthorne, age 98, a longtime resident of Mansfield passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his residence.  He was born in Valdosta, Georgia on April 11, 1913 to the late William and Mattie Craven Hawthorne.  Mr. Hawthorne was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy and was a member of the Sea Bees.  He was of the Methodist faith a member of Gaither’s United Methodist Church.  Mr. Hawthorne was preceded in death by his Wife, Mrs. Elise Hawthorne and is survived by his Nieces, Nephews and Close Friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hawthorne will be held at 7 o’clock, Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Chapel of Harwell Funeral Home with Reverend Mickey Moss officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00pm until 7:00pm Monday evening prior to the service.  Those desiring may make donations to a charity of your choice in honor of Mr. Hawthorne.  Harwell Funeral Home and Cremation Chapel, 2157 East Street SE, Covington, GA 30014 is in charge of arrangements. www.harwellfuneralhome.com
