Mrs. Mary Josephine Kirkley, age 82, of Oxford passed away at her home Saturday, November 02, 2013 surround by her children.  She was born December 18, 1930 in Oxford, Georgia to the late T.C. and Mary Inez Holifield Bryant.  Mrs. Kirkley worked for many years as an executive secretary for Oxford Manufacturing and also served as Deputy Tax Commissioner for Newton County where she retired in 1998.  She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and also attended church at North Covington United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Kirkley was preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Kirkley, Sr. and her son John Thomas Kirkley, Jr.   

She is survived by her children: Debbie Kirkley Curtis of Social Circle, Bryant Kirkley of Oxford and Kelli and her husband Mike Hopkins of Covington along with her 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Kirkley is also survived by her sisters: Ellen Davila of Social Circle and Carol Mitchell of Covington along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Kirkley will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Rob Raynor officiating.  Interment will follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Children's Foundation, Park North, 1577 Northeast Expressway, Suite-A Atlanta, GA 30329 or to CURE Childhood Cancer at 1117 Perimeter Center West, Suite N-402, Atlanta, GA 30338.  J.C.
