Mary Frances Mims of Oxford, passed away August 5, 2010, at the age of 85. Mrs. Mims enjoyed roller skating, traveling, and was considered an excellent cook. She and her husband, Kenneth, both enjoyed witnessing for the Lord. Mrs. Mims was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar L. and Bessie (Chandler) Birdsong; great-grandson, Stanley Dean Johnson; sister, Rose Cobbs; and her brother, Ralph Birdsong. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Mims, Sr., of Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, Bryant and Brenda Mims of Newnan; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Zekie Breedlove of Monroe, Bonnie and Bobby DeLee of Oxford, Marcia and Keith Adkisson of Oxford; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mims will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010, 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, Covington, with Pastor Jason Dees officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., Friday, August 6, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, c/o Murphy’s Gang, 1139 Usher St., Covington, GA 30014.
