James (Sonny) W. Kirkpatrick of Covington, passed away May 27, 2011, at the age of 74. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a member of Milstead Baptist Church. He worked for Piedmont Moulding, as supervisor, for more than 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, exercising, and managing his rental properties. Mr. Kirkpatrick loved his family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ester and Ola Mae (Parker) Kirkpatrick.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sarah Watson Kirkpatrick; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Greg Thomas; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Kim Kirkpatrick, all of Covington, Mark and Lynn Kirkpatrick of Madison; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Kirkpatrick, Zach Thomas, Kameryn Kirkpatrick, Beau Thomas, Ross Kirkpatrick, Carter Kirkpatrick, Bonner Kirkpatrick; 1 great-grandson, Shane Kirkpatrick; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Charles Lewis of Conyers; several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service for Mr. Kirkpatrick will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, with Pastor Doug Craver officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Sunday, May 29, from 2-4 PM.
