Warren Douglas Reynolds, 73, was welcomed into the presence of Christ this week after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and expressed thankfulness for the peace, comfort and joy he experienced until the very end. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, attended Southwest High School in Atlanta and Georgia Tech. He was a graduate of Georgia State University.
Doug had wide-ranging pastimes including bonsai, gardening, hybridizing flowers, reading, classical guitar, photography, antique clock repair and languages. He spoke Japanese and German. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Covington for 37 years. At various times, he served as Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and Treasurer. He often did flower arrangements for the church and started their Flower Guild. He was known for his generosity, love of others, and sense of humor.
Doug will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Reynolds; son, Matthew Reynolds of Atlanta; daughter, Beth Reynolds of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Julia Reynolds of Atlanta; and granddaughter, Ruby Jane Reynolds of Atlanta. He leaves behind his sister Becky Reynolds of Atlanta; his brother, Roy Reynolds of Louisville, Kentucky; three nieces and two nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his mother and father Frances and Roy Reynolds of Austell.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the morning at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Covington. A reception will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, 4140 Clark Street SW, Covington, Georgia 30014.
