Mr. Bobby Eugene Martin age 80 of Covington passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011.  He was born October 13, 1930 in Newton County Georgia to the late David W. and Pearl (Smallwood) Martin.  Bob retired as Captain from the City of Covington Fire Department in 1993.  He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Covington and Victory Baptist Church in Vienna.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life: Ruth Mobley Martin, daughter: Kaye Martin; son: Pete Martin; sisters: Darlene Daniel and Betty Hewell and his parents.  He is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Teresa and Bobby Ward of Vienna; son: Terry Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Charlotte and Bill Wilson, Pat and Jack Lazenby; brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Avis Martin all of Covington; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews other family and close friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Saturday, August 27, 2011.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 28 2011, at 2:00PM in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The Rev. Richard Culpepper will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Home.
