A custodian at Mansfield Elementary School was arrested last week after Georgia Bureau of Investigations agents found child pornography on a computer at his residence.

Brian Evan Morgan, 49, of Covington was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children, both felonies, after GBI investigators, with the assistance of Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies, served a Dec. 11 search warrant at his residence, said GBI spokesperson John Bankhead.

"On a forensic review at the residence, they found images of child porn and charged him," Bankhead said.

GBI investigators with the Internet Crimes against Children taskforce received a tip about Morgan's alleged involvement with sharing files of child pornography. The allegations did not involve any communication with minors, Bankhead said.

Morgan was employed with the Newton County School System since March 2008 as a custodian at Mansfield Elementary.

"Mr. Morgan has been informed that his employment will be terminated," said NCSS spokesperson Sherri Viniard in a statement. "Mr. Morgan has not and will not be permitted on school property."

"We have been informed by investigators that no students were involved and that no improper activity occurred at school. This all occurred off campus during off hours. To make certain, system technology specialists checked each computer at Mansfield and confirmed that there was no inappropriate computer activity on the school's computers," Viniard said.
