A 25-year-old man was shot in the foot during a disagreement Monday evening, and deputies are looking for the person responsible.

The victim's mother called authorities while en route to her home on Whitehead Court, after her son called her and told her he had been shot. When deputies arrived they found the victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his foot.

He reportedly told investigators with the Newton County Sheriff's Office that he had gotten into a disagreement with an acquaintance and the acquaintance shot him.

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Dutchy Demarreo Mitchell, and warrants have been issued for his arrest.
