Kroger gas station down for testing

The gas station at the Covington Kroger on U.S. Highway 278 will be down for the next four to five hours for required state compliance testing, according to store manager Horace McCullough.

About twice a year, the state department tests pumps at all gas stations for things such as fuel pump accuracy, possible water in the tank and other issues. The test requires the entire station to be closed and typically lasts four to five hours, McCullough said.

The station should re-open this afternoon, he said.
