Social Circle's val & sal: Straight shootin'
Meet Social Circle's valedictorian and co-salutitorians

Social Circle High School’s Valedictorian has known her co-salutatorians for years. They take most of the same classes and are in most of the same clubs. The two salutatorians know each other even better. In addition to taking the same classes and participating in the same sports, they’re also identical twins.

Dana Hopkins
After she leaves Social Circle, Valedictorian Dana Hopkins will be leaving the state of Georgia for Bowdoin College in Maine. She hasn’t nailed down a major yet — economics or political science are looking like likely candidates — but is sure she’s done her homework and knows she’s found the right place.

Hopkins is graduating with a 4.0 average, with a score of 99.441 out of a hundred. She’s taking AP classes — AP British Literature is her favorite —and she stays plenty busy with her other school activities. She’s in the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, National
Technical Honors Society, Math Club and the Art Club. She also plays the oboe with the Athens Youth Symphony.

She couldn’t think of her favorite memory on the spot, but she said senior day would likely take the cake. “Today (senior day) is gonna be beastly,” she said.

Bradley and Scott Wise
Bradley and Scott Wise had no problem agreeing to split the Salutatorian title. After all, they have the same classes — AP British Literature is both of their favorites — the same GPA – 4.0s with an average of 94.2 out of a hundred — and the exact same genes, so splitting the honor was no problem. They also say that there was never any rivalry between the two of them.

Both are members of the Student Council, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, the Beta Club and the swim team. Scott is also a member of the Math Club, while Bradley spends his time on the state Swim Team.

Bradley will be attending college at Wabash College in Indiana after being recruited by the Swim Team. Scott will be attending Sewannee: The University of the South in Tennessee. Both are undecided on their majors. According to Scott, they’ve been in classes together their whole lives and are looking forward to going to different schools.

Graduation will be held at the Social Circle High School football field on Friday, May 28 at 7 p.m.
