SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — The Social Circle school board will consider the contract of Superintendent Todd McGhee at a special called board meeting Friday afternoon.
“On the agenda is the superintendent’s contract and personnel matters,” board Chairman John M. Callahan told The Covington News.
Board of Education members will convene at 3:30 p.m. at the system’s central office, 147 Alcova Drive.
Callahan said he didn’t know what to expect the board might do Friday.
“We’ll see what comes out of the meeting,” he said when asked if McGhee’s continued employment is in jeopardy.
“My anticipation is there will be news at the end of the meeting.”
McGhee came to Social Circle in 2012 when he succeeded Bettye Ray. He previously served as the principal of Elbert County High School.
The school board has seen significant upheaval since McGhee’s hiring. Tim Lemonds, who was the board chairman when McGhee was selected, did not seek re-election in 2017.
Two incumbents lost their re-election bids in November as Rico Jackson and Sabrina Sanford-Flint joined the board. They defeated incumbents Jamie P. Peterson and Charlie Akin, respectively.
Patrick Dally was appointed to the board in Callahan’s former seat, which he resigned to seek the board chairman slot.
