Israel Humphrey, a seventh grader from Liberty Middle School, is one of the finalists for McDonald's The Gift inspirational singing competition. He was one of the five chosen out of 112 contestants at the March 19 open call in Atlanta.
Israel is an honor roll and Quest student and has been singing his whole life. He plays the drums, saxophone and piano and writes his own songs.
He will compete for more than $20,000 in cash and prizes against 14 other singers ages 9-15. They will perform at the Rialto Center for the Arts on April 3.
"I am very excited about this opportunity," Israel said. "There was a lot of great competition. I am truly blessed to have this chance."
