The Newton County School System Board of Education is hosting a reception honoring outgoing board members from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Distict 1 representative Johnny Smith has served one full term and half of a term left open by the death of Richard Tiede. Distrct 3 representative Cathy Dobbs has served two full terms and Greg Proffitt has served as the District 5 representative since Dr. C.C. Bates left the seat in June.

The reception will be held at central office, 2109 Newton Drive. Refreshments will be served.
